Terumo is a global leader in producing medical technologies and services of the highest quality. The Genk facility handles European distribution. These include products such as syringes, catheters and much more.
Specific to the distribution industry is that employees do a lot of lifting and hoisting.
At Terumo in Genk, they pay great attention to the safety, health and well-being of employees. After all, it helps prevent physical complaints. Together with Formaz, Terumo additionally organized awareness training on ergonomics, or “lifting and hoisting”.
During short 1h15 interactive sessions, the ergonomics theme was once again explicitly highlighted. Each course started with a short theoretical section. In this part, cases from the Terumo workplace were incorporated so that the theory was also immediately linked to recognizable situations. That way the material sticks better. This was followed by practice. The trainer set up a practice course in the distribution center for this purpose. Each exercise took a moment to reflect on the incorrect actions that could occur. Then each participant did the exercise with the appropriate actions.
The short but focused trainings were much enjoyed by the employees. Often they are things that people already knew but the refresher made them aware of the right way to work again, in the interest of the employee.
