What is a high level order picker or order picker:

These devices are used indoors only and are used to collect (picking) or stock (receiving) orders.
There are two types of order pickers, low-lift and high-lift.
Low-level order pickers do not allow working at height and the operator can only pick orders at ground level.
With a high-lift model, the driver goes up with the operator.
He stands on a platform next to the pallet or bin in which to pick.

Content:

The training includes 4 hours of theory in group and 12 hours of practice per participant.

Theory:

  • Legislation
  • Know the basics of legislation for a high working order picker truck: ARAB (Codex), liabilities and responsibilities.
  • Risks and accidents
  • Be able to identify, analyze and control risks specific to equipment and space.
  • Safety regulations
  • Knowing the safety regulations such as there are: direction of travel, braking for turn, distance between high working order pickers, prohibition to take passengers, turning in and out of aisles, adjusted travel speed, regulations when coupling/uncoupling battery and in a loading station, travel height forks.
  • Construction of high level order pick trucks
  • Know concepts related to the construction of the high level order picker: lift height, free lift, clearance height, mast types, turning radius, safety devices on the high level order picker. To know how batteries can be changed.
  • Working with the high level order picker truck
  • Know the elements that make up the start check: hand brake, foot brake, hydraulic system testing, sound horn check, visual tire check, chain tension, forks ….
    Know the factors that affect the load and stability of the high level order picker. Understand and be able to use charge diagrams. Know that there are different types of pallets and storage methods.

Practice:

  • Application of safety and traffic rules: defensive driving, interaction with people and other drivers.
  • Be able to correctly perform daily inspection of high level order picker truck, recognize dangerous defects and report them.
  • Apply correct mounting and dismounting technique and safely park the high level order pick truck.
  • Be able to use the controls correctly.
  • Be able to connect and disconnect batteries.
  • Adopting a good driving technique: forward, backward.
  • Be able to perform the following maneuvers: turning and cornering forwards and backwards, passing in very narrow passages, turning in and out of aisles.
  • Be able to estimate distances, depth and height.
  • Be able to correctly pick and/or stack at ground locations, in racking and at height and according to capacity of the high level order picker.
  • Proper lifting and carrying
  • Applying order and cleanliness.
  • Driving with induction guidance (if applicable)
