Details proficiency driver training Electric pallet truck – Stacker – Order picker truck

SIT stands for Small Internal Transportation and includes training on:

Electric transporter or pallet truck (ETP/EPT): used to move loads horizontally over longer distances.
Both lifting and driving are done here by an electric motor. There are versions without platform where the driver walks along and versions with platform where the driver rides along.

Electric Stacker (EST): this device allows both vertical and horizontal operation. With the stacker, the load is above the support arms of the support wheels during travel so there is no or limited forward tipping risk. There are versions with and without a ride-on platform. Low-level order picking truck or picker (LOP): used for picking or receiving orders at ground level. The forks are usually located at the rear of the unit. Some models allow limited lifting of the forks for ergonomic reasons.

Low-profile order picking truck or picker (LOP): serves to collect (picking) or stock (receiving) orders at ground level. The forks are usually located at the rear of the unit. Some models allow limited lifting of the forks for ergonomic reasons.

Training content:

This training includes 3 hours of theory in group and 1 to 5 hours of practice per participant. At Formaz’s training centers, multiple training machines are available and practice is done in groups.
In-company at the employer’s premises, practice can take place individually or in group.

Theory:

  • Summary of legislation
  • Basic knowledge of ARAB, Codex, liabilities and responsibilities
  • Risks and accidents
  • Be able to identify, analyze and control risks specific to the job and equipment and space
  • Safety regulations
  • Explaining the safety regulations such as there are: direction of travel, braking before turn, distance between the electric transpalet – stacker and LOP, prohibition to take passengers, adjusted travel speed, regulations when coupling/disconnecting battery and in a charging station, taking turns, braking, …
  • Parts electric transpallet -stacker and LOP
  • Load and charge diagram
  • Know what factors affect the load and stability of the electric pallet truck – stacker and LOP.
  • Understand and be able to use loading diagrams (EST only).
  • Working with the electric pallet truck – stacker and LOP
  • Know the elements that make up the starting check: hand brake, foot brake, hydraulic system testing, sound horn check, visual tire check, steering play, chain tension, forks.
  • Taking turns, pivot.
  • Ergonomics
  • Efficient driving
  • Warehouse infrastructure

Practice:

  • Be able to perform daily inspection of the electric pallet stacker and LOP correctly, recognize dangerous defects and report them
  • Safe parking
  • Being able to use the controls correctly
  • Application of safety and traffic rules: defensive driving, interaction with people and other drivers
  • Be able to connect and disconnect batteries
  • Adopting a good driving technique: forward, backward. Pivot.
  • Be able to perform the following maneuvers: turning and cornering forward and backward, passing in very narrow passages
