Working safely for custom workers
Bewel is an organization that employs people who are distanced from the labor market. With 2,200 employees and 8 branches, Bewel is one of the largest employers in Limburg. They work not only in their own workshops, but also on the shop floor of their customers in various industries.
Working safely takes precedence at Bewel. This is why they also attach great importance to targeted, thorough training for working with machines correctly and safely. Think of forklifts and reach trucks. But ergonomics is also key. The so-called KIT devices (small internal transport), such as automatic transpallets or sweepers provide more pleasant work and avoid overloading.
Each course includes a bit of theory around legislation, acting correctly in various situations and concrete examples of dangerous situations that can occur in the workplace. The theoretical part is followed by a short exam. Then it’s time for practice. Using various simulations, participants will learn how to drive the device correctly and experience what obstacles might come up on their courses. Thus, they learn to calculate how high a certain load can be stacked, how to handle unstable loads or how to turn their machine in narrow aisles. Each practical class also ends with an exam.
In addition to forklift, reach truck and KIT training, Bewel with Formaz also organizes “fire fighting – small extinguishers” training on a regular basis . Green Service employees take this training because they work a lot with appliances that potentially cause fires such as gas-powered weed burners.
